One thing I hate when I go to eat in a Chinese place is that gluten free dumplings don’t always exist, and I love them toooo much to not be able to eat it. So I decided to cook it by myself and here are the following steps you will need to do to enjoy eating this amazing Chinese specialty !
An easy recipe as all the one we propose on Gluten Libre.
We decided to cook it with vegan chicken & broccoli with a spicy maple sauce. Let’s cook together!
For 20 dumplings so as many people you want… I would say, 2 ? haha it depends of your hunger!
Ingredients:
- 20 gluten free dumpling wrappers
- 1/2 cup vegan chicken
- 1/2 cup chopped broccoli
- 2-3 stalks chopped green onions
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp gluten free soy sauce
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tbsp sesame oil for cooking
- 1/2 cup water for steaming
For the sauce:
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (or more to taste)
- 1 tsp gluten free soy sauce
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp water
- 1/4 tsp sesame oil
Method:
STEP 1: Chop the broccoli, vegan chicken and green onions very small. The smaller the better.
STEP 2: Add 1 tsp of sesame oil to a pan and heat up for 1-2 minutes.
STEP 3: Add the broccoli, vegan chicken, green onion, soy sauce, ground ginger and maple syrup. Cook for 5 minutes until broccoli is softened and chicken is crispy.
STEP 4: Wet the edges of a dumpling wrapper with water. Add 1 tbsp of filling into a dumpling wrapper. Fold them and repeat with all dumpling wrappers.
STEP 5: In a pan add 1 tbsp of sesame oil and the dumplings with their flat bottoms down so they can get crispy. Cook for 3-4 minutes on a medium heat.
STEP 6: Then add 1/2 cup of water, cover and steam until all the water is gone.
STEP 7: Prepare the sauce by adding all ingredients to a bowl and mixing together. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion.
